Tucker...best dog ever!
I struggled painting Tucker, my dog, in his natural orange/tan color. I decided to re-do and stick with the black and white photo coloring. Lesson learned? Don't be afraid to re-do.

Beagle
I love drawing my beagle! Bagel is actually my daughter's dog. This painting caught me by surprise. I painted over an old painting. You can still see the yellow stain. Then I sketched a picture of a beagle from a book cover. Then I started painting. Everything just flowed! I was so happy when I finished. My best one yet!

Illustration Friday: Double
Hello, wonderful artistic people! Here's a sketch from Dr. Sketchy's last July 18. Not going to miss the month with no post, no siree.
Miss you all!
Enjoyed my first comic-con experience last weekend at San Diego. The highlight was seeing Stan Lee and watching a documentary about this legendary creator of super heroes. He was so personable and still witty at 85. Such an amazing individual, he's a hero himself!

Illustration Friday: Ripple
Got some drawing pointers from professional artist boyfriend Chris Meesey.
Aloha! This is Waikiki Beach with Diamond Head in the background. :)
Still very much in love with art... just been busy with car trouble, mini-vacation, then back to hectic work schedule with the new job, and what not. I know I missed out a lot and hopefully I can keep up again.
Mahalo!

Legendary Jimi Hendrix
I have been drawing Hendrix, but couldn't post any because I just couldn't capture his looks. He sure knows how to use his equipment. Check out Damion Dunn's mind-blowing version: http://damion009.blogspot.com/
Sorry if this cellphone picture isn't so clear... USB from scanner is missing.
I hope that everyone is having a great time! Can't wait to see your artwork!!!

What a pal!

Please check out Melissa Kojima's blog. She's an artist in LA. So talented! Take a look at the portrait she made of me. Isn't she wonderful?

I'm Back!
I missed posting and hearing from my blog friends!
My darn computer crashed and so I had no access to a scanner. On top of that, I started with my new job. I'm now the proud Library Manager of the busiest and biggest branch of the Los Angeles Public Library. Yay!!!
Of course, my first project is to put an art display. Here's Meesimo and his caricature artwork. I am fortunate to have made a few artists friends in LA (thanks to Facebook and sketch groups). I can't wait to see other artists' artwork on future display at the library.
Hope all is well for all of you creative people! Can't wait to check out your blog. :)

Priscilla's Cafe in Burbank, California
Here's the only sketch I made while hanging out with some of the most talented caricature artists... not to mention coolest. ;)
Check out the work of Chris Meesey alias Meesimo, Sam and Damion Dunn.

Illustration Friday: Confined
I had several ideas but not the time to do them. But no way I would miss a submission to IF.
So I did a quick one and played with the scanner to make it look "cool". I see this girl as me... the little girl in me who likes to disappear once in a while. Maybe I never had enough of playing "Hide and Seek" as a kid. :)

Illustration Friday: Pioneer
Last minute idea to add a bonnet and make this self-portrait of a young me as a pioneer.
Explanation: Somehow I can relate. As an immigrant, there was a lot of opportunity for me to venture, explore, and be "the first".
But then again, I've always been one to do her thing her own way, be different from everybody else or what's expected, have her own voice. The story of my life... or the artist in me?
Happy 2010 everyone! Let's make it a great year!!!

Merry Christmas
I was fascinated by this book I found that was color by number which got popular in the '60's. So I tried to replicate the idea using Bagel. I did this tonight and now my back hurts! Anyways, Happy Holidays to you all!
Oh, I will use this as my entry to Illustration Friday for Undone. Just take a look at his white nostrils... Hehehe! I need to paint it.

Illustration FRiday: Unbalanced
Sorry, I've been so busy, I couldn't balance my art hobby with other fun stuff!
One idea that came to mind for this topic was California's octomom. Her pregnant would be the epitome of unbalanced, physically and mentally. But I refuse to draw her and waste effort on her notoriety!
So, this is a sketch from last Friday's Dr. Sketchy's. I figured that if you were to run into this lady on the street, with her umbrella and goggles now that it's wintry, you might just think she's a little off... She's cool to sketch though.
