Thanks for your compliment on my blog. If I could advice, try making your blacks really black. This will help you better see and balance the other shades of gray. To build from cabap's comment - a white highlight in the center of the pupil stands out because the area around it is black. Check out any anime art for an example. Same for black hair and highlights.
I had the same problem for years where I had all these nice subtle shades of gray in my drawings, but they were missing the really dark grays and blacks to make them really pop.
Cadap- Huh? My eyes are black and Megan's blue. Light eyes, don't color in? Dark eyes, color in?
Ken- Thanks for the pointers. I must say that I'm looking forward to an art class I signed up for this Saturday. It's only for a day, but hopefully this will enhance my observation when drawing faces and animals which I love doing.
I agree, Meg is hot! ;) only reason why I'm watchin' Transformers 2! he he he, kidding aside, i think you've captured her beauty! :) keep drawing! i'll keep checking your progress!
Totally new. It all started with a sketchbook I got in January 2009, drew the likeness of my daughter (to my surprise), got inspired by cartoonist Lynda Barry, then this blog was created in May 2009.
I must confess that getting visits from wonderful stranger artists out there is a thrill.
Everyone is welcome and thanks for visiting!
