Played with watercolor... Not so pleased with this medium. Seems easy, but very tricky in a messy way. Sigh. (Head bowed, just like in the illustration). If I were to do this over, I would have left her lower back green instead of red.

  1. You are right Ako, watercolor ( aquarel ) is the most dificult dicipline.
This is a very solid drawing, with the right proportions,

Remember to think of objects in and as 3D rather than 2D. Keep up the progress!

  6. I think you did a great job! I have been working with watercolor for many, many years and yes it does take time to master it. It's the whole bleeding situation. How do you control it. If you a person who loves control watercolor will frustrate you at first, but if you give yourself a chance you can work with it. I have a friend of mine that works in ink and watercolor. His name is Peter H. Reynolds. You can visit his website peterhreynolds.com. Peter is so cool. I study his watercolor illustration for their looseness and flow. If you don't mind I can give you a few tips on working with the medium. Just email and let me know if you are at all interested. Don't give up on it yet!! Hang in there.

  9. Thanks everyone! Double thanks to Jan.
Vanessa, thanks for the offer! You are super! I really don't know anything so I feel I would be imposing too much by emailing you. However, I work at a library so I will check out books and definitely take a class. For now I'll just experiment. By the way, hope you see my next post inspired by Peter Reynolds. Thanks to your recommendation!
