Got this idea from Vanessa who recommended Peter Reynolds' website:http://www.peterhreynolds.com/ He is the illustrator of the children's book "The Dot". This practice allows me to play with watercolor and not have this overwhelming feeling of making everything on the page appear visually aesthetic.
Great study. And great reference. I've never seen Peter H. Reynold's work before. Good artists say a lot with very few brush strokes. Keep imitating the artists that you love. You will learn a lot that way. And thanks for the comment on my blog.
Totally new. It all started with a sketchbook I got in January 2009, drew the likeness of my daughter (to my surprise), got inspired by cartoonist Lynda Barry, then this blog was created in May 2009.
I must confess that getting visits from wonderful stranger artists out there is a thrill.
Everyone is welcome and thanks for visiting!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful work!
ReplyDeleteI think this is fun and charming! Watercolour can be a little tricky but just enjoy and don't be critical of your art.
